The Hunger Games Characters

The Hunger Games movie has now been released and here are a list of The Hunger Game Characters.

Jennifer Lawrence will play Katniss Everdeen . The 16-year-old District 12 resident volunteers to compete in the Games after her younger sister, Prim, is selected as a tribute.

Josh Hutcherson will play Peeta Mellark, a baker's son, who is called up to represent District 12 alongside Katniss in The Hunger Games.

Liam Hemsworth plays Gale Hawthorne, Katniss' friend and hunting partner. Both of their fathers died in mining accidents, forcing the teens to provide food and money for their families.

Elizabeth Banks has been cast as Effie Trinket, Katniss and Peeta's escort to the Capitol. She's annoyingly perky, and a bit of a social climber.

Woody Harrelson will play Haymitch Abernathy, the only living resident of District 12 to ever win The Hunger Games. Since then, he's become a drunk, but he promises to sober up enough to mentor Katniss and Peeta as they prepare for the Games.

Lenny Kravitz will play Cinna, the stylist assigned to Katniss for the Games. He and his team create all of the outfits Katniss wears as she prepares for the reality TV battle to the death.

Willow Shields plays Primrose Everdeen, Katniss' younger sister. Nicknamed Prim, her name is selected as the female tribute for District 12, and Katniss volunteers to take her place in the arena.

Stanley Tucci will play Caesar Flickerman, the charming TV personality who interviews all the tributes before The Hunger Games.

Donald Sutherland has been cast as President Snow, the ruthless, autocratic ruler of Panem. He controls the country (and its annual Hunger Games) from his palace in the nation's Capitol.

Wes Bentley has been cast as Seneca Crane, the Head Gamemaker. He's the one in charge of designing the arena that the 24 tributes will battle in (they're different every year).

Paula Malcomson will play Katniss' mother. Mrs. Everdeen is a skilled healer, but retreated into a deep depression after her husband was killed in a mining accident, forcing Katniss to become the family's main breadwinner.

Amandla Stenberg plays Rue, the female tribute from District 11. Just 12 years old, she's the youngest tribute in the arena, and reminds Katniss of her sister Prim.

Okeniyi Dayo plays Thresh, the male tribute from District 11, who proves to be a formidable opponent in the arena.

Leven Rambin will play Glimmer, the female tribute from District 1. She's from one of the country's wealthier districts, where being a tribute is considered an honor. Children from those areas are commonly known as Careers, because they train throughout their lives in hopes of participating in The Hunger Games.

Jack Quaid plays Marvel, the ruthless male tribute from District 1. Like Glimmer and the other Careers, he has trained for most of his life for the Games.

Jacqueline Emerson has been cast as the female tribute from District 5. We never learn her name, but Katniss refers to her as "Foxface."

Isabelle Fuhrman plays Clove, the female tribute from District 2. She's another Career tribute, who proves to an expert knife thrower.

Alexander Ludwig has been cast as Cato, the male tribute from District 2. One of the Careers, he's ruthless, competitive and one of Katniss' biggest threats in the arena.
